The results of the elections to the ‘interim’ committee were announced at the AGM. For the first time the elections were held online, allowing every full or honorary member to cast a vote.
The outgoing committee had agreed that, in order to help overcome recent divisions and to have the widest possible cross-section of opinion available as the Society considers its future, a larger, more representative and fully elected commitee should be appointed for an interim period of one year. This will allow the Society to consider the question of registration with the Charity Commission (and home nation equivalents).
An additional officer of the Society – the communications officer – was proposed, the regional representatives were expanded from 4 posts to 5 to reflect the growth in membership and 3 non-geographic posts were added to the committee to build on the successful contribution of its co-opted independent members in recent months.
The results of the secure and anonymous online ballot are HERE
And full details of the new committee are HERE
You will see that two posts are unfilled: the regional committee member for the North of England and one of the three non-geographic members of the committee. We are keen to fill these posts. The commitment is not excessive – 3 committee meetings ahead of the AGM – but hopefully will include the contribution of your ideas for the future of your Society.
